This photo report is an intent to visualise what your process through a bus terminal in Ecuador (in this case Cuenca) will most likely look like.
Upon arrival you want to purchase the ticket to your next destination, because you never know exactly when they are sold out.
Most terminals offer a vast variety of groceries, daily supplies, fast-food and snacks on-the-go.
If you need to pass a longer waiting time (which is true with most nocturnal buses if you didn’t know the departure times) there is a bunch of things apart from eating you could do. I tend to store my luggage at a safe place and walk around for photos. Others take a nap.
Like here in Cuenca, the bigger bus terminals will ask you for a small terminal usage-fee payable before you go out to the bus departure lanes. So make sure you have enough time left, as you might need to queue in rush hour.
At the desired destination there is probably no more time to waste, unless you need to go to the restroom, etc.
Taxies are available at almost all terminals at all times, that will bring you safely to the final destination. Take into account that night-rates apply.
